Boose Quality Casting Services

Through firm commitment and devotion to Quality, BOOSE Quality Castings has integrated our Quality Management System into every phase of the production process.  Thus, ensuring that your aluminum sand castings meet all required specifications and regulations. Our unwavering commitment to quality control is your assurance of quality products.

Personnel

All examinations are performed by American Society for Nondestructive Testing – Non-Destructive Testing Levels 1, 2, and 3.

Non-Destructive Testing

We work to a variety of Military, Aerospace and commercial specifications.

Liquid Penetrant Testing

Fluorescent Dye Penetrant, Water Washable Type I, Method A, Sensitivity Level I. This is a testing method suitable for evaluating the surface and sub-surface integrity of non-magnetic and ferro-magnetic parts. BQC partners with an outside source to offer our customer’s the highest quality testing available.

3D Scanner, CAD Design, 3D Modeling, 3D Printing, Laser Scanning

3D scanner is used to capture surface geometry, internal features, and specific part characteristics in detail.  The light from the laser is run across the surface of an object while a camera captures the output of the reflection. Each reflective point is triangulated, measured, and recorded to generate a 3D rendering of the shape and surface measurements of the object. BQC partners with an outside source to offer our customer’s the highest quality testing available.

Radiography/X-Ray

BQC utilizes a certified digital & film radiography lab to identify discontinuities in our aluminum sand castings. This process provides an additional layer of assurance when striving to meet our customers structural and mechanical requirements. BQC partners with an outside source to offer our customer’s the highest quality testing available.

Chemical & Physical Testing

Hydrogen Porosity Detection and Mitigation

Every heat of aluminum is rotary de-gassed and tested for specific gravity (I.E. Density) before any castings are poured.

Spectrochemical Analysis

Every heat of aluminum is sampled to verify the metal chemistry prior to releasing the heat for production. This process is done through the use of Optical Emissions Spectrometry.

Physical Testing

BAC has implemented an engineering test in which a sample is subjected to a controlled tensional force until a failure point is reached.  The test results plots the tensile, yield and elongation of the material and determines if the cast alloy meets the required specification limits.

Sand Testing

Each batch of molding sand is autonomously tested for crucial physical properties. This level of control safeguards against large shifts in our molding sand properties during production. Each automated test is backed up with fully comprehensive laboratory testing both in-house and through outside vendors.

Process Control

Shop Cards

Shop cards are generated within our ERP system during order entry. Each operation receives their own shop card with specific instructions for the respective process.  Shop card controlled operations such as, core making, molding, heat treat, visual inspection and shipping are prime examples of how BQC has built in consistency and quality control through every step of production.
